Technical (CAD) Design Manager

If project and people management is your bag - you might be our next design manager

You’ll be an enthusiastic technical designer that’s ready to take the next step or an experienced design manager looking for a new opportunity.

You’re ready to put your solid CAD skills to the test - and throw yourself into project and people management. As part of the Parable engineering design team, you’ll have the chance to work on exciting and varied design projects for some of the most recognised global brands.

About the role

Project management

As design manager, you’ll be responsible for making sure projects are delivered on time and to our high Parable standards. You’ll have excellent time and project management skills - as you’ll be maintaining documentation records* of generated design deliverables. In addition, you’ll have a good knowledge of software management and CAD strategy.

Your day-to-day will include planning, organising and managing the plans and schedules of the CAD project team. In addition, you’ll need to manage resource identification and offer guidance and direction to the CAD team.

As part of our ongoing growth, you’ll be developing, implementing and monitoring any new CAD design standards and procedures. You’ll be confident in your use of CAD hardware and will be able to identify any technical issues and source appropriate training for your design team.

You’ll also be a great people person - as you’ll be the first contact point for our clients. You’ll be a strong relationship builder and on hand to sort out any critical issues and coordinate projects.

*Ensuring project documentation and contracts comply to BS 8888:2020

People management

As well as a friendly human being, you’ll be ready to play your part in driving our business forward. From identifying opportunities to finding innovative ways to improve workflow, you’ll be ready to make your mark

You’ll be responsible for hiring, training and supervising new CAD users in core application skills and standards - supporting them as we work together towards completing projects. On an ongoing basis, you’ll be meeting with team members to reflect on technical skills, performance and productivity.

But most of all, you’ll be a good egg. One that maintains positive working relationships and loves to be part of a busy, creative team.

You’ll benefit from:

  • A competitive salary up to £40,000 DoE
  • Flexible working hours (37 ½ hrs per week), the potential for limited hybrid working
  • Friendly office-based working environment
  • Supplemented gym membership (optional)

About you

You’ll ideally be degree qualified in technical design or engineering, but we know that if you’re ambitious and have relevant experience, there’s nothing you can’t be taught. And we’re great at developing people, so if you’re committed to learning, you’ll fit right in.

You’ll be comfortable using SolidWorks or AutoDesk Inventor, as well as 2D CAD tools like AutoCAD or Draftsight. You’ll also be able to demonstrate your problem-solving abilities, research skills and organisational or project management experience.

About us

We’re a fast-growing creative engineering team that achieves spectacular things greater than the sum of its parts.
